Some moments are too special to let slip away.
The giggles over a silly inside joke. The impromptu dance party in the kitchen. The bedtime story that turned into a full-blown adventure.
As an aunt or uncle, you know that the best memories aren’t always the biggest moments—they’re the little ones. The ones that happen in between errands, on the walk home from the park, or in the middle of a random Tuesday.
That’s why we created this DIY Little Moments Memory Book—a simple, heartfelt way to capture the magic of your time together and turn it into a keepsake you’ll both cherish for years.
✨ Why Make a Memory Book?
In a world where everything moves fast, this book is a way to slow down and hold onto what matters.
📖 It’s a space to write down the little things—funny quotes, small adventures, and moments of kindness.
🎨 It’s a place for creativity—kids can draw, decorate, and make it their own.
💛 It becomes a treasured keepsake—something to look back on and smile at together.
And the best part? You get to build it together.
Whether you see your niece or nephew every day or only a few times a year, this book is a way to stay connected, reflect on your favorite memories, and create a tradition they’ll never forget.
🛠️ How to Make Your Own DIY Little Moments Memory Book
📖 Supplies You'll Need:
✔️ 8-10 sheets of blank paper (printer paper, recycled paper, or cardstock)
✔️ 1 sheet of heavier paper or cardboard (for the cover)
✔️ Hole punch or thick sewing needle (for binding)
✔️ Yarn, twine, or ribbon (to bind the pages together)
✔️ Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
✔️ Stickers, washi tape, or stamps (for decorating)
✔️ Scissors & glue (optional for adding keepsakes)
📝 Step-by-Step Instructions:
1️⃣ Fold your pages.
Take your blank sheets and fold them in half together to create the inside pages of your journal.
2️⃣ Prepare your cover.
Cut your thicker paper or cardboard to match the size of your folded pages. Fold it in half to create the outer cover.
3️⃣ Punch holes for binding.
Use a hole punch or thick needle to make 2-4 evenly spaced holes along the folded edge of your pages and cover.
4️⃣ Bind your journal.
Thread yarn, twine, or ribbon through the holes and tie a knot or bow on the outside. (Pro tip: Let your little one pick the ribbon color!)
5️⃣ Design the cover.
Write “Little Moments” or come up with a title together—like “Adventures with Aunt [Name]” or “Our Favorite Memories”. Let them decorate with drawings, stickers, or even a handprint!
6️⃣ Create your first entry.
On the first page, write:
"This book belongs to [Child’s Name] & [Your Name]."
Then, ask your niece or nephew: “What was your favorite thing we did together today?” and write (or draw) it down!
💡 How to Use the Memory Book Together
Once your book is made, here’s how to turn it into a fun, ongoing tradition:
📆 Make it a weekly tradition. Every time you spend time together, add a new entry.
🖍️ Let them take the lead. Let your niece or nephew draw, write, or add stickers.
📸 Attach keepsakes. Glue in a leaf from a nature walk, a printed photo, or a small note from each of you.
📖 Read it together often. Every few months, flip back through the pages and relive the memories!
🎁 Make it a gift. Once the book is full, gift it back to them as a special keepsake of your time together.
🌟 Because These Are the Moments That Matter
At the end of the day, this isn’t just a craft—it’s a way to hold onto the little things that make your bond so special.
Because 10 years from now, they might not remember the toys you bought them…
But they’ll remember how it felt to have someone who truly loved being part of their world.
So grab some paper, some markers, and a little creativity—because the best adventures are the ones we create together. 💛
